the bread at my school is fine, except their is white dusty stuf on the bottom - what does this mean?

- it's flour. nothing harmless and virtually tasteless.
- that means the cooks flour the bottom of the bread pan before they put the dough in. it helps keep it from sticking without having to use oil or grease.

personal experience - It's just extra flour! Different brands look different this way. It's okay, really!!!!!
- Often when baking bread, the dusting on the bottom is still on. So in the case of the white bread, most likely it is flour that was used to dust the board or countertop where it was formed before baking. This is perfectly fine.
If it's bluish or green, or is furry, it's mold. Don't eat. - That's called flour. It's what the bread is made out of and a light dusting on the bottom of the pan and roll keeps it from sticking. And it's perfectly safe, as long as you don't try to snort it or something.

flour - That is merely flour. The factories who make bread probably put that under the bread to make it look fresh. It is really nothing to worry about.
