Food gifts for friend with gastric bypass?

I am buying a secret santa gift for a friend of mine. I know she likes various types of dessert food, so I think that would make a good present. However, she had gastric bypass surgery last year, so I'm not exactly sure what she can eat (usually she eats normal food but smaller servings, something like that). Can anyone who's had the surgery or knows people who have give any suggestions? Thanks a lot!

Generally, people who have had gastric bypass surgery should severely limit their intake of sugary and refined flour products. You could try giving her dessert products made from Splenda, they are pretty common. If you plan to make the dishes yourself, just replace the sugar with the boxed Splenda. It measures the same as regular sugar. Also, if you are using white flour, substitute a whole wheat flour. You might find that you might like this reduced carb recipe or other friends will appreciate your thoughtfulness.

I had the surgery 3.5 months ago and still cannot have most desserts. I would appreciate it if one of my friends went to the extra trouble so that I could have some holiday foods. I can't even have a nibble of these regular sugary foods yet.

I hope she just loves the idea.

A wonderful gift would be a gift certificate to Whole Foods or even a bariatric weightloss website,
    www.bariatriceating.com
    www.focus28wellness.com
    www.bariatricchoice.com

I had gastric bypass surgery in June and I know I'd love a gift certificate to any of the sites above or Whole Foods.

As for buying foods, our taste change after surgey and it's much easier to let her decide what she wants with a gift certificate.
