Generally, people who have had gastric bypass surgery should severely limit their intake of sugary and refined flour products. You could try giving her dessert products made from Splenda, they are pretty common. If you plan to make the dishes yourself, just replace the sugar with the boxed Splenda. It measures the same as regular sugar. Also, if you are using white flour, substitute a whole wheat flour. You might find that you might like this reduced carb recipe or other friends will appreciate your thoughtfulness.
I had the surgery 3.5 months ago and still cannot have most desserts. I would appreciate it if one of my friends went to the extra trouble so that I could have some holiday foods. I can't even have a nibble of these regular sugary foods yet.
