Is it possible to make chick food, and chicken food with household foods?

can i make food for chickens and chicks from household foods?, if i could what do i use to make the chicken food? and what do i use too make the chick food?

If you feed your animals a homemade concoction it will be very difficult to make sure they are getting their proper nutrients. It would no doubt be more expensive to buy all the necessary ingredients than purchasing feed from a feed store. I'm sure there are organic recipes that you can find online, but seriously, they eat dirt off the ground, so I wouldn't even bother!

However, if you're just wanting to give them something for a day or two until you're able to make it to the feed store, I would recommend feeding them grained bread in the meantime. We used to give our ducks dry Quaker Oatmeal, but in moderation as when added with water it can get very paste-like. Egg-laying birds need calcium in their diet, so you may want to dampen the bread with a little bit of milk if you have any hens.
